Hope… It's a word that is used in many ways. We use it on Game Day, when we “hope” that our sports team will win. We use it in reference to our kids, when we “hope” that they will turn out all right and make wise decisions. We use it in the hospital waiting room, when we “hope” that our loved one will be fine.
Scripture, however, uses “hope” in a different way. As Paul states in Romans 5:4, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” The “hope” in the Scriptures is not something we do, but something that we have. It is a given and certain promise.
For the follower of Christ, “hope” is not fleeting, but rock steady. It is the anchor in life. Although we are on the boat and cannot see the anchor, it is holding us secure. No matter how big the waves crash and the winds gust, the anchor holds.
At Carver Baptist Church, it is our desire to proclaim the only “hope” we have in this life, the hope in Christ.
We invite you to join us as we cling to this “hope” giving Him all of our trust, treasure, talent, and time.
