Our Beliefs:

Lives centered on the Gospel of Christ

What Is the Gospel?

At our church, the word "gospel" is central because it is the most important truth we can know and experience. The gospel is not just for non-Christians but also for Christians to delve deeper into. It shapes our theology, ministry, and all aspects of life.

The Apostle Paul defines the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:3-5: "Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared to Cephas and the twelve." In essence, the gospel is about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection and its implications for us.

The word "gospel" means "good news"—the news of God taking on flesh through Jesus Christ, rescuing humanity through His perfect life, substitutionary death, and resurrection. While it can be summed up in a sentence, the gospel is the grand narrative of the entire Bible, telling the story of God reconciling the world to Himself through Jesus. It is personal yet cosmic, simple yet infinite.

Our Beliefs

At Carver, we believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and is the foundation of our faith.

We believe that Scripture is the authority that governs all of our practices.

We believe that it is our duty and privilege to share the death and resurrection of Christ as the joy of all believers and the hope of all peoples.

We believe that believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances of the church.

We believe that our doctrine is best summarized in The Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
